National Technical Regulations on Food Contact Material in Vietnam

The National Technical Regulations (QCVN) issued by Vietnam’s Ministry of Health outline safety and hygiene requirements for implements, containers, and packaging in direct contact with food. Depending on the material, the following QCVNs apply:

• QCVN 12-1:2011/BYT: Synthetic resin Implement, container, and packaging in direct contact with foods

• QCVN 12-2:2011/BYT: Ruber implements, containers and packaging in direct contact with foods

• QCVN 12-3:2011/BYT: Metalic containers in direct contact with foods

• QCVN 12-4:2015/BYT: Glass, ceramic, porcelain, and enameled implements, containers, and packaging in direct contact with food

These regulations apply to all organizations and individuals involved in manufacturing, importing, trading, and using food contact packaging and tools, as well as to state management agencies and other related entities operating in Vietnam.
