Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang accompanies the project "Strengthening the Mango value chain in the Mekong River Delta"
On May 20, 2022, the conference to implement the project "Strengthening the Mango value chain in the Mekong River Delta" in Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province, marking the first activities of AgroScience Services - Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang in this very important project.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in recent years, mango is one of the exported fruits with great growth. Although mango exports only account for about 8% of Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable exports, it is growing rapidly from 30-50% per year.
Like most other fruits, Vietnamese mangoes, when exported to the international market, still have many problems that need to be improved. Uneven quality, susceptibility to fungal diseases, and pesticide residues have not met international and global quality standards. Due to limitations in post-harvest handling techniques, it is difficult for fresh mangoes to be stored in time to reach potential markets such as Europe and America. As a result, the brand value of Vietnamese mangoes is not really well priced in the international market.
Understanding the above urgent issues, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in cooperation with international partners in Germany and leading enterprises in the distribution and export of mangoes in Vietnam, implemented the project. “Strengthening the Mango value chain in the Mekong River Delta”.
Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang was selected to take on the role of assisting in improving the quality of mangoes before harvest. Specifically, AgroScience Services, Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang will provide testing services, soil assessment, and fertilizer use recommendations at sample farms with large mango growing areas in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam such as Dong Thap, An Giang, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, and Kien Giang. Thereby, forming a model farming model, bringing sustainable quality to Vietnamese mango varieties. This is also an important link in improving the mango value chain in Vietnam.
