What is Asbestos?
Asbestos fibers are extremely strong, can withstand high temperatures, and are not temperature, sound, or electrically conductive. Because of these qualities, asbestos is perfect for usage in a range of products in the nautical and offshore industries.
Asbestos can be found in many places, most often in homes, factories, schools, vermiculite, breaks… Asbestos was mostly employed as a building material in the past, it can be present in soil as well as in structures built before 1994.
It has the capacity to disintegrate into microscopic-thin threads, which people can breathe in, and has the potential to cause cancer. Globally, asbestos-related diseases claim the lives of over 90,000 individuals each year. Nowadays, asbestos use has been outlawed around the world.

Asbestos analysis can be carried out both before and after asbestos removal:
- Before: Asbestos testing involves analyzing samples to identify the type of asbestos and whether it is friable or non-friable. This information helps define the level of risk associated with asbestos and enables informed decisions about control measures.
- After: After asbestos removal, we can conduct a clearance assessment to ensure the area is safe to enter without wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This will involve measuring the concentration of fibers in the air.
