Latest updates on Ethylene Oxide regulations in the EU market
On August 11, 2022, the EU issued regulation number (EU)2022/1396 amending the MRL regulation of Ethylene oxide (EO) in food additives.
The residue of EO (including free EO and 2-chloro-ethanol) in food additives should not exceed 0.1 mg/kg.

Sesame allergen labeling required in the US market 
On April 23, 2021, the Food Allergy Research, Education, and Safety Act (FASTER) was officially come into force, declaring sesame the ninth major food allergen in the US. This update will be applicable from January 1, 2023. Labeling is mandatory from the time this law comes into force.
In addition, the FDA has identified more than 160 foods with the potential to cause allergic reactions in sensitive people. As a result, the FDA requires specific ingredient labeling to minimize risks.

Mineral oil (MOSH/MOAH) in Food
In 2017, the European standards committee officially issued the standard EN 16995: 2017 guiding the analysis of mineral oil in vegetable oil.
Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang has successfully implemented the MOAH/MOSH analysis method in food and food contact packaging using the GC-FID method.
The current Eurofins method fully meets the European regulations, applicable to most kind of samples.

Analysis Furan and Alkylfurans residues in food
On 28 March, the European Commission published recommendation number 2022/495, on monitoring for the presence of furans and alkylfurans in food.
Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang chooses Headspace- Gas chromatography probe mass spectrometry (HS-HC/MS). It is a method with stability and sensitivity that meets the minimum requirements set out in EU 2022/495.
In addition, Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang also expands its capacity and provides additional analysis of other alkylfuran compounds such as 2-ethylfuran, 2-butylfuran, 2-pentylfuran.
