Active substances commonly detected in some sample matrices:

  • Pepper, spices: Metalaxyl, chlorpyrifos, cypermethrin, permethrin, Imidacloprid, Diphenylamine, diniconazole, Tetraconazole, Cyazofamide, Propyzamide, Thiobencarb.
  • Rice: Trycyclazole, Azoxystrobin, Tebuconazole, Difenoconazole, Isoprothiolane,
  • Vegetables: Dithiocarbamate, chlorpyrifos, carbendazim, metalaxyl, Difenoconazole; Azoxystrobin; Imidacloprid

In particular, the rate of exceeding the MRL threshold of some banned substances in the EU has decreased compared to 2021

Ethylene Oxide contamination in seasoned instant noodles, vermicelli and pho products has also been significantly improved. Compared to the end of 2021, which was 22%, now it has decreased to only about 10% of samples with an excess infection rate. However, this item is still on the EU's strict control list and it is mandatory for each container to have a certificate of food safety and hygiene issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

However, with this rate, our export risk is still high. In the first 6 months of 2022, Vietnam received 38 warnings from the EU, of which more than 60% fell into the warning of violations of pesticide residues exceeding the prescribed levels, most of which fell in the group of vegetables and fruits. Some typical cases are:

  • Rambutan was contaminated with chlorpyrifos residues at 0.022 mg/kg, while the MRL was 0.01 mg/kg.
  • Red pepper contaminated with chlorpyrifos residue at 0.14 mg/kg
  • Dragon fruit contaminated with Dithiocarbamates residues at 0.16 mg/kg exceeded the MRL of 0.05 mg/kg.

The statistics are compiled from the analysis results from mid-2020 to the end of the first quarter of 2022 carried out at Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang. Information related to customer information as well as detailed analysis results are absolutely not shared.
