Adapting to the new fertilizer price level
Facing the fact that fertilizer prices are at a record high, the agricultural sector in the Cuu Long Delta provinces recommends that farmers use them in a balanced and economical manner.

Rice and fertilizer increase and decrease in opposite directions
Compared to the same period last year, the price of many types of urea fertilizer in the Cuu Long Delta has increased at least from VND 230,000 to 240,000/bag. At many agricultural supply stores in Can Tho city, Hau Giang, Vinh Long, An Giang and Dong Thap..., the price of Phu My urea and Ca Mau urea was at VND 560,000 - 590,000/bag, while it was only at VND 530,000-540,000/bag before.
The price of many types of DAP imported from the Philippines, Korea, DAP China (green type) is VND 800,000 - 850,000/bag. NPK 20-20-15 Dau Trau and NPK 20-20-15 Co Bay are priced at VND 690,000 - 720,000/bag. Potassium fertilizer (Israel, Canada, Russia) costs from VND 460,000 to 480,000/bag.

Mr. Le Hong Quan, a farmer in Dong Hiep commune, Co Do district, Can Tho city, is growing 1.4ha of summer-autumn rice, planting OM 5451 rice variety that is nearly 70 days old, feeling anxious when the rice price is continuously dropping, while the price of input materials such as fertilizer is constantly increasing in recent times.
“A few seasons ago, I went to the agency to buy bags of fertilizer for just more than 300,000 VND/bag, now it has been over 550,000 VND. Such a price increase has greatly affected the production of farmers. We just want the fertilizer price to be stable so that farmers can feel secure in production. If the fertilizer price keeps its high increase like this, the price of rice must also increase to make things reasonable. The current situation is really bad for us rice farmers", said Mr. Quan.
Use in a balanced and economical manner
Although the fertilizer price has absurdly increased as it is today, farmers still have to accept to buy and use. (Le Hoang Vu - Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper)
Although the fertilizer price has absurdly increased as it is today, farmers still have to accept to buy and use.
"Today, I went to an agricultural material agency to pay off old debt and buy with new debt to prepare for the next autumn-winter crop. I almost fainted just by hearing the agency notify that the fertilizer price increased again, but I still have to accept and buy at high prices to fertilize the rice because it will be ready to sow in a few days", said distressingly Mr. Pham Van Kha, Tan Thanh commune, Thoi Lai district, Can Tho city.
According to many agricultural material agencies in Can Tho city, the fertilizer price increase is mainly due to the influence of the increasing world fertilizer price. (Le Hoang Vu - Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper)
In accordance with many agricultural material agencies in Can Tho city, the fertilizer price increase is mainly due to the influence of the increasing world fertilizer prices, along with the increase in imported material prices and fertilizer production costs in the country. In the near future, prices of many fertilizers are likely to increase and remain high due to increased transportation costs, especially in the context of complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic.
As stated by Mr. Tran Thai Nghiem, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Can Tho city: With the high fertilizer price, farmers must consider the amount of fertilizer for crops at an appropriate level to save costs, and at the same time limit fertilizer application for crops with unstable output prices.
