Japan
Vietnamese food exported to Japan does not comply with the Food Safety Act
In the first 3 months of 2024, Vietnamese food imported into Japan violated Japan's food safety law, of which 6 cases related to seafood and aquatic products, 1 case of tree nuts, 1 case for fruit vegetables. As follows:
- Salted pistachios: Contaminated with Aflatoxin 152 µg/kg (aflatoxin B1 129.8 µg/kg, B2: 22.6 µg/kg).
- Frozen seafood and aquatic products: contaminated with aerobic microorganisms, coliforms and residues of the antibiotic enrofloxacin.
- Frozen chili: contaminated with pesticide isocarbophos 0.11ppm

Revised Standard on Pesticide Residue Limits in Food April 1, 2024
On March 29, 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture published the Revised Standard on Pesticide Residue Limits in Food, accompanied by amendments to Appendix 1 of Article 3 and Appendix 5 of Article 6. Standard This is effective on April 1, 2024. Changes include:
- Adjust MRL of 4 active ingredients Ametoctradine, Boscalid, Fluopyram, Pyrethrins
Establishing new MRLs in new foods for 22 active ingredients including Acequinocyl, Afidopyropen, Cyantraniliprole, Mefentrifluconazole,... - Three active ingredients banned from use in some foods include Chlorpyrifos, Dicofol, Paraquat.
- The application period for the 3 active ingredients Chlorpyrifos, Dicofol, Paraquat starts from April 1, 2024 as follows:
- 3 months for fresh edible flowers;
- 1 year for vegetables, spices and herbs (including edible dried flowers);
- 2 years for dry beans (including beans and oilseeds), coffee and cocoa beans;
- 3 years for rice, other grains and tea.

Addition of maximum residue limits for the active ingredient Cloquintocet-mexyl in a food
On March 14, 2024, the US Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) added maximum residue limits for Cloquintocet-mexyl indicator in a specific food as follows:

Korea
Update Korean Fode Code
On April 9, 2024, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) amended the Food Code. The authority has adjusted the MRL of Simazine, lowering its residue limits in Almonds and Corn. Some changes in MRL are as follows:
