Issue of regulation (EU) 2024/286
EU issues regulation (EU) 2024/286 Amending regulation (EU) 2019/1793 on the temporary strengthening of controls and emergency measures governing the entry of certain goods from certain countries markets of EU countries
On January 16, 2024, the European Union announced amendments to Regulation (EU) 2019/1793:
- Introducing rules relating to temporary increases/decreases, official controls on imports into the European Union of certain foods and feeds of non-animal origin from certain countries ( Appendix I).
- Special import conditions for some foods and animal feed from some countries due to the risk of contamination by mycotoxins, including Aflatoxin, pesticide residues, dioxin, Pentachlorophenol, microbial contamination, Sudan dye, Rhodamine B,..(Appendix II).

Issue regulation (EU)2024/331 on amending and supplementing annexes II and V of (EC)396/2005
The EU issues regulation (EU)2024/331 on changing the maximum limit of Oxamyl pesticides in agricultural and food products, effective from May 11, 2024.
Accordingly, the EU will apply the lowest Oxamyl residue level on agricultural products to 0.001 mg/kg, a significant reduction compared to current regulations.

Proposal to amend and supplement EU regulation 2023/915
EU proposes to amend and supplement EU regulation 2023/915 on maximum allowable limits of contaminants in food
- T-2 and HT-2 toxins: Previously, the EU did not have regulations for this substance. According to WTO notification No. G/SPS/N/EU/707, the EU set the maximum limit of T-2 & HT-2- toxins in some products, see limited details in the attached link. Accordingly, food items listed in the Appendix that were legally placed on the market before July 1, 2024, will be allowed to continue circulating on the market until their expiration date. - Changes to the total limit of 3-monochloropropanediol (3-MCPD) and 3-MCPD fatty acid esters in formula milk products, expected to take effect from January 1, 2025. Refer to the table below or see details at: https://members.wto.org/crnattachments/2024/SPS/EEC/24_00027_01_e.pdf

United Kingdom - UK
United Kingdom - UK, issued regulation 2024 No.120 with measures to control food and feed of non-animal origin imported into UK countries based on regulations (EU) 2019/1793, effective from March 7, 2024. Note that this regulation does not apply in the Welsh market. Accordingly, Vietnamese products including coriander, basil, mint, parsley, okra, chili, and dragon fruit when exported to the UK comply with a control frequency of 50%.
